POMP Project Joins Forces with OC4C to Advance Ocean Carbon Research

POMP project is excited to announce a new collaboration with the “OC4C: Ocean Carbon for Climate” project, which officially commenced in June 2024. This initiative, led by Jamie Shutler from the University of Exeter and featuring our own partner, Judith Hauck from the Alfred Wegener Institute, aims to enhance our understanding of ocean carbon sinks through advanced satellite data analysis.

The OC4C project focuses on the innovative use of satellite technologies to reconstruct and analyse ocean carbon sink dynamics. This approach is key in our ongoing efforts to monitor and predict changes in oceanic carbon absorption capabilities, a crucial factor in global climate regulation.

POMP project will actively engage in this initiative, exploring synergies and collaborations that leverage our expertise in polar ocean studies. Our involvement not only broadens the scope of our research but also deepens our impact, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of how polar regions contribute to global carbon cycling.

By joining forces with the OC4C project, we aim to accelerate our contributions to climate science and ensure that our findings support effective and sustainable global climate strategies.
